No, it's not kool

Aaargh.

I just got an email from someone that included the line "I'm kool with that."

Kool. Not Cool.

Is it really so difficult to just type it the right way? I admit 'k' is closer to 'o' and 'l' on the keyboard than 'c' is, but are you really not in a position to spare a digit of your left hand to press the 'c'?

This just made my blood boil.

It's not like kool is the new cool, unless it's the 80s or something. And it's not new slang/lingo, like pwned.

It's not even like it's a significant shortening to sms-language. I can, to some extent (a small one), understand someone typing 'u' instead of 'you'. It saves time, energy, space. I see that.

But not 'kool' for 'cool'. That's just dumb.

And annoying.

I'm becoming a grumpy old man.

lolzz....yeah it's silly.....but if you're so annoyed by it....i guess you are growing old mate ;)

& just so that u know....i replaced 'r' by 'are' just out of fear that u'd yell at me for not typing it correct :o

grumpy old man :D :D

well, I've seen most people doing this jugglery of letters just so that they may look 'kewl' or 'kool', just as they think SMS lingo is actually the language. Ha! I am also sounding like a grumpy old old man. :(

@ Patrali - I bet you didn't notice that "lolz" and "u'd" would also annoy the grumpy old Kaka :P

'Kewl' is even more annoying. It doesn't even have the ergonomic justification that 'kool' has. It's just dumb, dumb, dumb. And Ekta Kapoor and her lot of K kobsessed kidiots don't help.

@Patrali, Sid: Yes, 'lolz' is another annoyance :) LOL is fine, though (I'm not that out of touch!)It's sad that often people communicate entirely in this bastardised English as a matter of course, and I'm sure many actually think their spelling and language is right.

I don't mean to come off all grumpy and preachy and intolerant, but I really can't help myself. I'm getting all worked up again just thinking about it!

I feel the same way when I see people use 'ma' in place of 'my', 'muzik' instead of 'music' etc etc.
I too seem to suffer from premature ageing.

@Gagan: its not even ma. its "mah"...which is, by the way, longer than "my". aaarghh!!
But one word here and there is better than say "s. dis is hw i type. u shld learn it 2."
I blame twitter!

Things will only get worse with Docomo's 1 paisa per character SMS deal.. We already have Hrithik Roshan endorsing retard-sms-speak!

AC said...

Exactly! WTF is so complicated about 'my'? I blame sms and twitter for this annoying degradation of language. In all fairness, I use it too (to some extent) but a sentence like the one GB's mentioned is just infuriating.

We are doomed. Or, rather, v r doomd.

LOL! 'bastardised English '...I like that expresssion!. But I agree, the 'mah', 'ma' and all the variants are infuriating to say the least. But tolerance is a good virtue my friend! :) - Lizzy

Well, then, I guess I'm not very virtuous!
