Nothing like dancing and partying with a bunch of 20 year olds...

...to make one realise how old and uncool one is.

I'm still, of course, very young. And I normally laugh at those who constantly worry about their age and crib about losing their youth. I've also always been a firm believer in the tenet that age is a factor of the mind, and not the body.

Yet, in a space of a few hours, I was forced to revisit my views. I was jolted out of my comfort zone of calm self-assurance and forced into a situation where I didn't how how to react. I can't believe I'm saying this, but - relatively speaking - I felt my age.

3 a.m. is not the best time for these ruminations... I know I'll pooh-pooh all this in the morning, but it feels rather strange and unsettling nonetheless.

Oh god! I know what you mean. I am reminded of my age every weekend! If the sign of being 20 is the enthusiasm to dance to random loud music and hold this enthusiasm till 4 a.m every weekend then yes I am very very old!

@Raja Mama: Ah, you're young at heart :)

@Divya: Exactly! I don't know how they do it... bloody Energizer bunnies, all of them!

Sorry if I seem to be rubbing it in (which I don't mean to, considering you're not quite old), but I like the way it feels when I walk into office every morning, not two weeks old at my first job, and people seem to stare with envy(?) at this jobless bunch of people just out of college. Sigh! Apparently, this feeling will not last forever.

PS: Why do ideas that creep in at night vapourise in the morning?

@Jaya: Ah, yes... I remember that feeling. Once upon a time, I too enjoyed the lovely freshness of a new job and low expectations. Sigh.

I can totally relate to what you feel!! Age is just a number - this is what I tell people!
However, when it comes to me; trust me it;s just not plain, simple numbers...it's scary!

More than the age itself, it's the sense of disconnect that really disturbs me :(
